God's Love Letters to You: A 40-Day Devotional Experience is written by Dr. Larry Crabb who is a well-known psychologist, seminar speaker, Bible teacher, author, and founder/director of NewWay Ministries. He has written seventeen spiritual growth books, three counseling series books, a number of audio CD's, and one DVD curriculum.
"If I have one prayer for this little book of devotional readings, it is this: I pray that people across the world, people of every age, of every color and creed, people in any circumstance, followers of Jesus or not-yet followers of Jesus, married, divorced, or single, in the hospital or on vacation, will hear the love story God is telling us in words that reveal His heart, words that speak life into ours."
Dr. Crabb describes the book in the following way:
"This book offers forty selected passages from 66 Love Letters for daily reading. A few thought provoking questions follow each passage to help you pause to reflect on the life words from God. I then suggest words of request and response to bring before God in prayer."
The book is divided into chapters, each based on a book of the Bible. Each chapter includes a Bible verse, a "God says" section (description of each book of the Bible), a question / answer section, and ends in a prayer.
It is well written and geared toward adults who are going through trials in their life. I enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick and easy read. You may read it as the author instructed, one chapter per day. I would recommend reading it along with your study of a particular book of the Bible. This book walks the reader through 40 of the 66 books of the Bible, showing how God’s
message is the same throughout His entire Word.
It is short in length, but POWERFUL in content. There are no illustrations. The beginning of the book includes a list of other works written by Dr. Larry Crabb.
The author's writing style was a little dry and I kept losing focus on what I was reading. Most chapters were only a half a page long and they left me wanting more content to read on each subject.
The author did well in carrying out the overall purpose of the book as a whole. The questions at the end of each chapter were well written and thought provoking. The prayer and Bible verse at the beginning of each chapter was a nice feature.

This book gets to the heart of the matter of how much God really does love us. If you want to know God's heart; then read this book. If you are going through a difficult time in your life, then this book is definitely for you! I love the last sentence in the book ...
"Only when you are gripped by what is happening in the invisible world will you live well in the visible world." ---Dr. Larry Crabb
See how I rate this book, below, on my Sheltie Rating Scale ...
I LOVE the rating system! However, my cat doesn't care much for it. Go figure.
